The Cape Cod Lavender Farm, which was established 25 years ago, was a way for founder and owner Cynthia Sutphin to stay home with her children and work at the same time. Cynthia wanted to create a lifestyle that encourages an appreciation for our natural surroundings. It was a conscious choice to live a simple, uncomplicated, and pure life. Back then, lavender had not yet become as widely popular as it is today. It was, however, known and appreciated by some, and this gave the Sutphins the foundation to build their business.
The Cape Cod Lavender Farm opened in 1995 after the family invited local Cape Codders to attend their harvest, and it soon became known as a unique place of serene beauty and healthy living. The Cape Cod Lavender Farm is truly a gift for the senses. While visiting, you will enjoy a peaceful escape while exploring the grounds, which include enchanted fairy gardens as well as glorious fields of lavender. A peaceful and picturesque setting and natural landscape awaits your visit. The annual harvest in June/July produces an abundance of lavender that inspires the home and body products that will warm the soul.
Lavender’s versatility helped expand the Sutphins’ product line seasonally. Their business philosophy is still inspired today by what you see in nature. Constantly striving to avoid the complicated, they are conscious of maintaining that simplicity and healthy lifestyle Cynthia hoped for from the beginning.
They started business with two bestselling products, lavender plants and loose lavender buds, and were inspired to create even more. Now, the Cape Cod Lavender Farm sells more than 20 lavender products, including home décor, culinary, and mind-body-spirit needs.
The offerings will delight your senses, excite your palate, and beautify your home. Explore the wide-ranging uses of lavender, from food and drink — the lavender lemonade is quite refreshing — to body and home in the herbs de Provence, lavender bath salts, lavender essential oil, soaps, and washes. The Sutphins are told regularly that their lavender body butter is the best hand cream around!
They welcome more than 10,000 visitors each year to the farm, including artists, writers, photographers, and those wishing to learn and experience the wonders of lavender on Cape Cod.
Enjoy a stroll around the Farm, visit their gift shop, and relax among the fragrant fields. If you cannot make it to the grounds in person, check out the lavender products in their online shop to tide you over. There are many uses of lavender — a simple whiff can make your day less stressful and more enjoyable. When you inhale the fragrance of lavender, the natural oils help you sleep more soundly, regain a sense of calmness, and relieve stress. Take deep breaths of their lavender and soy candles, dab lavender essential oil on your pulse points before you go to sleep, or squeeze a freshly picked bunch of lavender — each can make a great difference in your day.
In the spring of 2013, the Sutphins expanded their Enchanted Garden. Designed and built by Eddie Foisy, the garden allows children and adults to let their imaginations wander. There is a shade garden with plantings around a miniature stone replica of a medieval castle. Hidden among the varieties of plants, fairy house portals add to the fantasy and wonder of nature. The experience is magical for the young and young at heart! Cape Cod Lavender Farm is also an ideal location for unique and special events.
Hope to see you at the Cape Cod Lavender Farm!
